Honeybees are an important component of ecological health and increased food production and are vital for agrobiodiversity conservation.

Our project is located in the Taihu Lake basin in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, an important production area for loquats. The cultivation of loquats and prunes, as well as the associated industry of Chinese beekeeping, helps local villagers to increase their income and lift themselves out of poverty.

Our project is carried out through the adoption of beehives.

During the participation of the project, we can:

  • Support the breeding and development of Chinese honey bee populations in the Taihu Lake Basin;
  • Learn about the biodiversity of the Taihu Basin and how the ecological cycle works;
  • Help local poor/disabled/female/elderly villagers to increase their income through learning beekeeping skills and hard work;
  • Receive honey from adopted beehives;

Achieve a number of SDGs including and not limited to:

1. No Poverty
4. Quality Education
5. Gender Equality
8. Decent Work and Economic Growth
10. Reduced Inequalities
12. Responsible Consumption and Production
15. Life on Land
17. Partnerships for the Goals
